Low Flow

FOCUS: TECHNIQUE, SEQUENCE, REFINEMENT

This class covers a dance sequence on the ground and the lower third of the pole. Transitions and positions are taught through detailed progressions suited for students’ skill levels. Please check prerequisites for expected baseline skill levels. Sequences will not be timed and themed to one particular song.


San Francisco Pole + Dance

Low Flow (Adv)

Saturdays 2:00pm (70 minutes) — $40

This advanced class is for students experienced in low flow who are confident in learning sequences and choreography. If you are interested in improving your movement fluidity and control, refining transitions and technical execution, and improving your utilization of platform heels, this is the class for you. In each class, we will learn a sequence of intricate pathways and progressions, and you will be encouraged to dance to different songs. Be prepared to be challenged on your strength, endurance, coordination, and apparatus handling.
PREREQ.:
• Familiarity with learning low flow sequences & choreography
• Upright pole transitions & holds: half bracket hold and climb, pull-up, side/bicep grip hold (no chopper required)
• Overhead hand/grip positions: regular/baseball, tray, twisted/reverse, cup
• Static pole spins: dip, chair, carousel
• Basic pirouettes: "wrist roll", "tray/cup" grip

VRV3 Studios

Low Flow (Int/Adv)

Sundays 11:00am (75 minutes) — $39

This class covers technical aspects of low flow — transitions and positions, as well as aesthetic presentation on the ground and the lower third of the pole. Class will be sequence based, or a drills + sequence hybrid, and taught through progressions suited for students’ experience level. Heels are optional.
PREREQ.: Suitable for students with experience in low flow. Proficiency in basic static spins and upright holds, as well as familiarity with hand positions required.

Attire

  • Clothing you feel comfortable in moving that will not get in the way or inhibit your movement. Layering up recommended for warmup. Layers can be kept on for comfort throughout class until skin contact is required.

  • Bring knee pads or knee protection to all classes.

  • Socks. All classes start with grounded movement (no shoes)

  • 7” or 8” platform heels - see each class for info on heels.

Pole Tricks / Aerial Pole

FOCUS: TECHNIQUE

My aerial pole classes focus on pole tricks, transitions, and sequences both aerially and on the ground. Students will focus on skill-building and conditioning drills while using the apparatus. Tricks and transitions will be taught through detailed progressions suited for students’ skill levels. Please check prerequisites for expected baseline skill levels.


VRV3 Studios

Pole (Int/Adv)

Sundays 12:30pm (75 minutes) — $39

Intermediate+ pole is a technique class for students who have mastered their foundations on the pole and are ready to learn more complex transitions and shapes on the pole and level up their coordination, strength and flexibility on both static and spinning pole.
PREREQ.: Instructor approval OR student needs to be able to climb to the top of the pole comfortably (both spin and static), hold basic inversions for at least 3 seconds and have solid leg hangs.

San Francisco Pole + Dance

Pole L4 (Int/Adv)

Saturdays 12:40pm (70 minutes) — $40

This class emphasizes combos putting moves together and focusing on unique transitions. We will work on tricks and transitions requiring higher levels of strength and flexibility, as well as more complex transitions and combinations for spin- and static pole.
PREREQ.:
• Reverse grab spin
• Clean aerial invert
• Solid leg hangs
• Caterpillar (elbow grip inverted) climb
• Shoulder mount
• Brass monkey

Attire

  • “Pole clothing” - clothing that allows your skin to be exposed on:

    • the legs up to the top of the inner thighs,

    • the waist area - I discourage high waisted bottoms that cannot be folded down.

    • the arms and shoulders.

  • Layering up recommended for warmup (shirts, sweatpants, yoga pants, etc). Layers can be kept on for comfort throughout class until skin contact is required.

  • All aerial pole classes are taught strictly without heels for student and instructor safety. No exceptions.

Freestyle

FOCUS: DANCE, EXPLORATION, PLAY

Flow is a structured improv class that focuses on individual movement.

Students will explore and refine their own movement by following guided improv exercises followed by discussion. The explorations and approach can be applied in aerial work and non-pole movement as well.


San Francisco Pole + Dance

Pole Freestyle

First Friday of every month 7:40pm (70 minutes) — $40

Pole Freestyle focuses on dance and movement. Students will focus on experiencing movement in the body as well as exploring their personal style.
PREREQ.: Suitable for all levels. Be prepared to dance on your own. Taking a few Intro classes, or previous movement experience can be helpful, but is not required.
